The Oriental Institute at the University of Chicago is an internationally recognized pioneer in the archaeology, philology, and history of early Near Eastern civilizations. Since the mid-1990s, VHA has executed major renovations of the OI's galleries and the renovation of its lobby and gift store.
VHA reviewed the Institute's collection and reinstalled its primary galleries, including the Mesopotamian, Egyptian and Persian Galleries shown here.
Each gallery received new casework, restored plaster walls and terrazzo floors, and new lighting. Renovations were carefully phased to minimize disruption of gallery activities.
