Illinois General Assembly Hearing Room

Chicago, Illinois

This project for the Illinois General Assembly includes a new two-story hearing room, an adjacent conference room and renovated public areas. Located in a 1920s high rise, the new suite was created in space previously occupied by state offices. Designed, built out and furnished in eight months, the project includes custom walnut paneling, doors and millwork.

Frameless glass doors mark the entrance, with fabric-wrapped acoustical panels integrated into the wall paneling above. A walnut and etched glass partition—supported by a custom welded steel frame and cantilevered from the floor—separates the conference room from the public waiting area.
