VHA has been selected by the Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum, to design a major exhibition of 20th century decorative arts.  The show will open in 2017.

July 2016

Illinois First Lady Diana Rauner announced the comprehensive renovation plans for the Executive Mansion.  Tribune architecture critic Blair Kamin applauded VHA’s “subtle but significant” design that promises to rebuild the appearance and the dignity of “the people’s house.”

June 2016

The Illinois Senate has selected VHA to renovate its formal hearing room within the state capitol. As presently configured the room does not offer full handicap accessibility. Building upon our other award-winning work in the building, VHA’s renovation will bring the space up to code while replacing non-original elements with new, period-appropriate designs.

Our founding principal John Vinci was featured as one of Newcity magazine’s Design 50: Who Shapes Chicago for 2016.

December 2015

VHA has been selected to direct a comprehensive renovation of the Illinois’ Governor’s Mansion. This distinctive Springfield building has fallen into disrepair after years of deferred maintenance. The project addresses structural, MEP and code-related shortcomings while restoring the building to its 19th century grandeur.

October 2015

The Mid-North Residence was honored by AIA Chicago with a Citation of Merit in the Distinguished Building Award category. This adaptive reuse of a historic commercial complex.

February 2015

VHA’s latest exhibition design for the Portland Art Museum, “Italian Style: Fashion Since 1945,” opens on February 7th.

January 2015

VHA’s renovation of the Illinois State Capitol’s West Wing received the AIA’s National Honor Award for Interior Architecture. This is the highest honor a project can receive from the AIA, and the second time VHA has been recognized for our work at the Capitol. Our restoration of the legislative chambers earned the honor in 2008.
